    African Chess Championship to be held in Uganda

    17.06.06: 2007 Africa Junior Chess Championship will be held in Kampala, Uganda. Uganda was confirmed as a host of the tournament at the world chess governing body, FIDE Congress in Turin, Italy last week. The last time Uganda had hosted the tournament was in 1998. The preparations for the event to be held in December 2007 will be starting soon. About 30 countries are expected to participate in the championship. FIDE contributes 8000 Swiss francs to the host country that caters for accommodation and feeding for two from each of the participating countries.
