Beating Mirozevich Anand Leads in Morelia, Carlsen wins

India’s Vishvanathan Anand beat Alexander Morozevich in the Fourth round match of the Morelia- Linaress Super Grandmasters ChessTournament on Wednesday. Alexander Morozevich played an excellent game, holding out perfectly against Vishy Anand's attempts to take the initiative. But then, close to the time control, the Russian GM lost track and an important pawn. Anand took over and there was no looking back.

In other matches of 4th round, Grand Master Magnus Carlsen defeated Vassily Ivanchuk in a fighting 60-move black game. Remaining two matches ended in draw. Peter Leko drew with Levon Aronian while Veselin Topalov played a draw with Peter Swidler. Anand is the sole leader after the conclusion of 4th round with 3 points.
In Thursday’s match, Anand shall play against Aronian while Topalov shall face Magnus Carlsen.
