Indians bag victory at the Asian Youth Chess Championships
26.06.06: Indian chess players started off with bagging prominent victories at the Asian youth chess championships being held in Tehran. Most of the Indian players emerged winners in the first round of this chess tournament. In the girls' u-14 section, top seed Bhakti Kulkurni, Laxmi Sahiti and Pallabi Roy won their first round matches. Pon. Kruttika, however, lost to Vietnam's Huang Y. Thi Nu. Y. Sandeep, B. Adhiban, S. Nitin and K. Priyadarshan were among the leaders in boys' under-14 category with all of them winning in their first round. In the boys u-12 category, top seed Vidit Gujarathi, V.A.V. Rajesh and Prasanna Rao are among the leaders as 11 Indians scored first round victories.
