5th Parsvnath International Open Chess Tournament Starts-Off.
An eight day long 5th 5th Parsvnath International Open Chess Tournament Started-off last Sunday. With 13 Grandmasters and around 30 International Masters participating, norm-seekers can be expected to make it in the Rs. 8.75 lakh prize money. Players from Russia, Ukraine, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Pakistan and Uzbekistan are trying to make their presence felt in the competition. The event is being organized at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here.The Event was inaugurated by Chairman of Parsvnath Developers Limited, Pradeep Jain. The tournament is being held under the auspices of Delhi Chess Association.
After completion of 2nd round Alexy Dreev(Rus), Yuri Drozdovsky(ukr), Ziaur Rahman(Ban),Sohan Phadke (Ind), Saidali Iuldachev(Uzb),Enamul Huassain(Ban),K. Priyadarshan, Deepan Chakravarty, J. Shridhar,Dibyendu Barua registered victories over their opponents.All FIDE rulings are being observed in the competition.
The tournament shall run till 22nd of this month. Aexy Dreev is speculated as the overwhelming winner for the top prize or Rs2 lakh.Four-time National Champion Grand Master Surya Shekhar Ganguly is heading the Indian contingent. He wants to ride on more surface than the ranking of 2600 points.
